This is Slim Shady. A kindly member of the public called the RSPCA when Slim was hit by a car on Keppoch Road in Roath. Quite typically, the driver didn't bother to stop.

He was taken to the Marlborough Road Veterinary Centre for treatment where all of the vet nurses promptly fell in love with him - he is just such a sweet boy. And this little fellow has spirit - when the vet examining Slim turned around for a few seconds, he decided to jump off the examination table onto the floor! They were then very surprised and a little horrified to see on his x-rays that he has a fractured pelvis!! (thankfully no further damage done by Slim's acrobatics.)

The vets then phoned us to ask if we could look after him while he recovers from his injuries and find him a home. Despite advertising in the area where Slim was found, noone has come forward.

When Slim first arrived at SHUA, he was very unsure of us all and promptly hid under the blanket we gave him in his pod (which was very cute!). When we first introduced ourselves to him, he would hiss really loudly and then lick his lips - showing how scared he really was. But within seconds of being cwtched he would show his true character - an adorable, affectionate young lad. Despite his injuries, Slim rolls over to show you his tummy and wriggles about on the floor of his pod desperately asking you for cuddles.

Slim Shady will need several weeks of pen rest and a final check by our vets before he can be rehomed, but in the interim if anyone would like to come and meet him (with a view to reserving him) they would be welcome to do so. We don't know how long Slim had been outside for but he was clearly someone's pet at some point because he is so friendly. He may be a little bit of a custard when you first meet him but we promise that within a few seconds of cuddling, he will be as affectionate with you as he is with us. Also, please bear in mind that after a month of pen rest, you'll have to forgive Slim if he wants to be extra lively running and playing around your house!!

If you would like to adopt Slim Shady, please read our adoption policy and then get in touch to arrange an appointment.
