This is Pinky (male) and Perky (female), siblings from the same litter. Their mum is a feral from the colony up at Peterson-Super-Ely. Over the past few years we have been trapping, spaying and neutering all of the ferals in the colony, with the help of the local community. We have had quite a few litters of kittens in the interim - kittens born in the wild as well as litters born here at SHUA after trapping pregnant females (we will not spay a pregnant female i.e. abort the babies). We are hoping, for the good of the colony, that this is the last litter. Fingers crossed!
Pinky, Perky and their brother Stinky Pete were all very frightened when they first came to SHUA. They had not had any human contact before and just cowered at the back of their pen. The two boys, Pinky and Stinky Pete, both came around quite quickly. Stinky Pete has now been rehomed. Perky, the girl, took quite a while longer to gain our trust. She is every bit as lively and cheeky as Pinky but is still just a little bit unsure about cuddles.
Both Pinky and Perky race out their pen in the morning when we go in to clean them out. They run into the corridor and investigate everything, soon finding the best toy to play with or mischief to get into. Pinky loves cuddles and looks at you all adoringly (though he is the cheekier-looking of the two). Perky is getting there. We're sure that she'll just need a bit more patience to settle into a new home and lots of tempting treats of chicken. She is every bit as adorable as Pinky but perhaps just not quite as bright (but that's not a crime).
Both Pinky and Perky are very sociable with other cats and kittens - they have shared pens with several other cats and kittens here and have been fine with all of them.
They are looking for a stable home preferably without young children so that Perky can settle in as quickly as possible.
If you would like to adopt Pinky & Perky, please read our adoption policy and then get in touch to arrange an appointment.
