This is Pan. His Mum, Knappa, was found in a retired gentleman's back garden at The Knapp in Barry. She had given birth on the 10th of May in his neighbour's garden and then moved her 5 kittens into his garden. He quite liked cats and certainly wouldn't wish any harm on them - but he was also a keen gardener and young Knappa was trampling his flowerbeds! We took the young Mum and her 5 kittens in to the shelter immediately.
Pan had 4 older sisters to contend with and they always seemed to push him to the back, getting the attention for themselves first. Consequently, Pan became a bit withdrawn and was a bit of a late developer. Once his Mum and 3 of his sisters had been rehomed, we put Pan and his remaining sister in with 2 kittens of a similar age from another litter. They all got on brilliantly and, in particular, Pan became close friends with a kitten called Johnny. Unfortunately for Pan, Johnny was rehomed in September. We tried putting Pan in with a litter of orphan kittens but, unusually, they wouldn't accept him (most kittens will happily accept an extra playmate after the initial hiss and growl). Poor Pan was miserable! Then another kitten around the same age as Pan, Luc, came in and so we put them both in with another pair of similar age kittens called Pinky and Perky. Luc has been a very positive influence on Pan and has really brought him out of his shell.
Pan is a fantastic boy. He loves exploring and running around and playing like any kitten but is also very loving. He is happy to be picked up and cuddled or given a fuss wherever he is. He purrs contentedly when having a cuddle. And he gives a very cute "performance" by rolling over and showing you his tummy.
Pan needs a quiet home, preferably without very young children. He is still just a little bit unsure of loud noises or sudden movements. You can tell that he desperately wants to be around people - he loves cuddles and playing - but he needs a family or person willing to be a little bit patient with him. He is just a very gentle boy who scares a bit more easily than other kittens his age.
Pan would also definitely love a home where he could have another feline companion - preferably someone young enough for him to play with! Pan will get on with anyone - he isn't fussy - he loves all cats and people.
