Meet Digger (ginger tabby male) and his friend J'Lo (white and black female).

Digger and his Mum were rescued in mid June from the old timber yard on Barry Docks. We booked Mum into our vets the following day to have her spay operation but tragically she died - quite mysteriously after the operation. She was just a nervous little stray and we really feel that we could have worked with her, given time. Poor Digger was alone in the world. He had already lost his siblings and now his Mum. He had not had human contact before and so found us all very scary.

Enter ... J'Lo!4 days later, we picked up a skinny kitten from Liddle village. She is perfectly friendly, affectionate, healthy and happy - but no collar and typically noone has come forward for her. Struggling for pen space, with little Digger all by himself and only 5 or so weeks younger, we couldn't resist but introduce them to each other. They hit it off immediately.

J'Lo is a long and leggy cat-walk type model-come-singer kind of kitten. She is at that gangly, leegy stage of growth with a scrawny neck and ears three times too bit for her. She is an absolute doll and just loves cuddles and playing.

J'Lo is definitely one to watch ... she just LOVES playtime with the other kittens and doesn't mind a jot that they all all a bit younger than her. She teaches them all of the latest tricks and scams and because she is a little bit bigger, she is more daring and can get to places they can't. They all just idolise her! When we let Digger, J'Lo and Tanci's kittens have a run around the utility block, we have to put Penny and Harvey outside (for their sanity!) and Betty Bullits into a pod (for her safety!) while poor Booh-Booh simply hides under the units in fear! It is hilarious - anyone who has had kittens before will remember how crazy they can be, tearing around like rockets for a few hours and then collapsing in heap together for a well-deserved nap.

But seriously ... we are looking for a very experienced cat owner to take J'Lo and Digger on. Digger does have learning difficulties which is slowing his progress down. J'Lo is doing her best with him, but he still hisses if he doesn't know you and will sometimes hide even when he does. He "forgets" easily. He needs someone who has the time and the want to work intensively with him for several months to come. With the right input, he will be GREAT by 6 months old; but without it, you will "lose" him. Which is why we are looking for a very special home with really patient, caring and experienced cat owners. People who understand that big spaces will not be good Digger for quite some time - he will just hide and never come out. The rewards from working with a kitten with learning difficulties are tremendous - but not everyone is cut out to do it. Did we mention how gorgeous he is??

If you are thinking of adopting J'Lo and Digger, then please get in touch.
