This is Go-Go. He was found straying down by the Waterfront in Barry in February. There had been reports of a similar cat lost in that area so we were initially very hopeful - but it turned out to be another cat (who thankfully was reunited with his owners).
Go-Go is a very gentle boy. We're not sure what happened to him - how he got separated from his family. But he has definitely been picked on and beaten up by lots of other cats. As a result, Go-Go is terrified of other cats and becomes highly stressed at the mere sight of another cat. Initially, Go-Go was in one of our Indoor-Outdoor pens in our main utility block but he didn't do too well in there. He was shy and would cower away from you unless you were armed with food (he LOVES whiskas!) - in which case he would meow and paw the door, tail in the air. After a month, we moved him to one of our Lindee-Lu pens, where there are far fewer cats. Immediately we saw a transformation - Go-Go was relaxed, happy and very forward. He positively loves cwtches!
Go-Go still gets a bit nervous sometimes and raises a paw to swipe you half-heartedly (no claws) if you make a sudden movement or unintentionally corner him. But as long as you are aware of his fears, you can easily avoid the triggers and instead reinforce his confidence and trust in humans. Despite being such a big boy, he is really a big custard. He has had some really bad experiences which have left him traumatised and he needs a loving, secure family to give him a forever home.
Go-Go would not cope with small children and ideally needs a semi-rural home with no other cats (or dogs) in the house and as few cats in the neighbourhood as possible. His experience with other cats was so bad that he simply cannot cope when other cats are around. Adopting Go-Go would be a commitment to remaining a one-cat family and we would be looking for a family / person who has settled in their home and is unlikely to move for the forseeable future.
If you would like to adopt Go-Go, please read our adoption policy and then get in touch to arrange an appointment.
