Meet Candy and her kittens, the Candy-Stripes!
Candy is only a youngster herself at nearly 8 months old. She was obviously someone's pet but unfortunately they did not spay her. She has either wandered and got lost or was abandoned - but there was no microchip and no collar and despite advertising, noone came forward for her.
Candy turned up in a back garden, pregnant and alone. The kindly lady took pity on her and brought her inside, giving her food and shelter. She hadn't realised that Candy was pregnant! When Candy gave birth, she called SHUA and asked for help!
Candy came to SHUA with 5 newborn kittens (still wet) at the end of May. One of her kittens died at only 3 days old - which is very sad but not uncommon. The other 4 kittens are healthy, strong and growing every day. Candy just adores her babies and spends all of her time and energy feeding, cleaning and cuddling them. She is such a star!
Candy will be nursing her kittens for a few more weeks before she would be able to go to a home - but you would be welcome to come and meet her. The 4 kittens will be ready to view after their 7 week health check, which will be in the fourth week of July. We rehome kittens at approx 8-9 weeks, depending on how big, strong and confident they are, based on advice given by our vet for each individual kitten.
If you are thinking of adopting Candy and / or her kitten(s), then please get in touch.
