Suki first came to SHUA in 2005. He used to live with his (feline) mum and their adoptive (human) family. One day the family moved away and simply abandoned Suki and his mum, leaving them to fend for themselves.
SHUA were called in to help when neighbours noticed something quite disturbing. Youths had started taking pot-shots with an air rifle at the cats and had already killed Suki's mum, right in front of him.
Suki was, understandably, absolutely terrified when we picked him up. We gave him lots of love and tlc and, with time, he came around, revealing a very affectionate and playful young cat. Suki found it difficult settling in at SHUA - some cats just do - and people passed him over time and again because he is a long-haired cat (meaning that he needs a family that will make a commitment to grooming him every day).
Suki has taken what has happened to him in his stride but ultimately, underneath the bravado there is still, and may always be, a very nervous young cat who has had a very traumatic start to life. As a result, he needs a very special family who can offer him stability and patience as well as love and affection.
Can you offer Suki a home? If so, please contact us.
