Pepsi was rescued when she was a tiny kitten from a skip on Rover Way. The kindly lady who rescued baby Pepsi adopted her and they lived happily together for more than 20 years. When her owner sadly passed away, she left a 12 year old son, 5 cats including Pepsi and 2 dogs. The council wanted the property to be emptied within a week, not leaving the family much time to sort out rehoming - which is when SHUA stepped in to help. Both dogs and all of the cats except Pepsi were rehomed - nobody wanted to adopt a 20+ year old cat!
And so Pepsi became one of SHUA's first resident cats. Despite being old and looking frail, Pepsi was a tortie through and through - she had serious cattitude! All of the other younger and stronger cats, male and female alike, respected her seniority and rank. Pepsi lived happily at SHUA for many years, spending most of time sunbathing in the 'silly old sods' conservatory or outside, depending on the weather. She was always first at the foodbowl, with other cats patiently waiting their turn - or else getting a swipe from her!
Pepsi was put to sleep on the 19th of December 2006. She was 26 years old and to this day is still the oldest cat we have had at SHUA. She was naughty tortie to the end - and we wouldn't have had it any other way. She was a very big personality and is missed by all of us.
