Spencer, an elderly, profoundly deaf cat, was found in a binbag. He had been shaved and was covered in superglue. He was in a terrible state.

With some tlc (and lots of food) Spencer recovered and his fur grew back. Spencer had a paternal instinct with all kittens but it was his affinity with a litter we collectively referred to as "the ducks" that earned him the name "Grandpa".

Grandpa Spencer lived with us for approx. 18 months. He made some very good feline friends his own age too - including a cat called Checkers. Sadly, Grandpa Spencer developed a tumour and had to be euthanased on the 6th of May 2003,, aged approx. 17 years old. His friend Checkers passed away in his sleep 2 days later. They were buried together at SHUA.

Grandpa Spencer had so much love to give to everyone and we feel that he continues to watch over all of our young charges at SHUA today.
