Mr Maybe (left) and Mr Couldbe (right) were rescued when they were young kittens in Autumn 2003. They had been born outside and were feral. We worked intensively with them but, bless them, they just didn't have the capacity to learn. They wanted to be "normal" cats but they would "forget" suddenly and be scared again. This was how they got their names.
My Maybe and Mr Couldbe grew up at SHUA, living in our trustees' house with the 4 Cozy-Wannabes, our 3 blind Siams and a few other "damaged" kitties. Mr Couldbe learned to trust us all over time and was mostly ok, with just the occasional forgetful moment. Mr Maybe always hung back a bit - but was happy enough with all of his feline friends.
Sadly, it was never meant to be. On top of their learning difficulties, there were underlying physical problems. Mr Maybe was euthanased in 2005; Mr Couldbe on the 10th of July 2007. They are missed by all of their friends.
