Christian came to SHUA in February 2006. He was a lovely, affectionate little boy but had obviously been mistreated. He loved a cwtch but would occasionally lash out for no reason. It took some time for him to learn to trust us and be confident that noone here would ever hurt him. Christian lived life at a slower pace than other cats his age and we knew that he would never cope in a "normal" home.
We were thrilled to find Christian an indoor home later that year … but our spirits were crushed when we later learned that he had got out and not found his way back home. The owner had not even contacted us to let us know, let alone ask for our help. With a "special needs" cat like Christian, we would have stepped in and assisted, with traps if necessary. Having never been outside before and with his inability to cope, we could only fear the worst.
We asked around but Christian was never found. It's the not knowing that makes it so much worse. Like so many pet owners, our Christian is MIA, presumed dead, long before his time.
